Paris Regional Medical Center

City/Town:
Location Class:
Built: 1968 | Abandoned: 2018
Status: AbandonedPrivate Property
Photojournalist: James Kirkendall

Closure was long and painful for the hospital, since around 2015 discussions of the fate of the South Campus were lurking in the shadows. In 2017 and 2018 numerous closures of the Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatric, LTACH Dubuis unit, and rendered all inpatient care services nonexistent.

Paris Regional’s Administrative Team said they understood the rich history and personal importance of the South Campus building to the community, and because of that, had already begun discussions with others in our city who might be interested in utilizing the location in the future.

But those efforts came and went, and the building now sits completely abandoned showing signs of break-ins and vandalism. The future for the site is unknown as more and more windows are broken out exposing it to the elements.

This site is private property and should not be visited without permission. The police department is next door so they keep a watchful eye and do/have charged and arrested trespassers.
